 THE GOECHALA TREK

15 DAYS / 14 NIGHTS ALTITUDE : 4940 MT.
 

 DAY 01

Bagdogra IXB / NJP  –  Darjeeling.
Meet on arrival at IXB / Bhadrapur (Nepal), Transfer to Darjeeling after entry
Formalities, Drive time, Approx. 4-5 hrs. Halt.

 

 DAY 02

Darjeeling Sightseeing.
Darjeeling Sight seeing-Tiger Hill and Seven points tour and Free after Lunch. Walk in the Mall and buy some famous Darjeeling Tea. Overnight Halt.

 

 DAY 03

Darjeeling to Yuksom (Sikkim)
Drive from Darjeeling to Yuksom the trek base in Western Sikkim, time on the Road approx.6 hrs. Halt overnight in Yuksom

 

 DAY 04

Trek Begins from Yuksom for Tshoka, Alt.2048m/12 kms/6 hrs. O/N Tents / huts
Trek from Yuksom to Tshoka 18 Kms time taken approx. 6 hrs. Walk through dense forest  of pine and oak.  After crossing river Prek Chu it is straight 70 degree uphill climb this is the toughest stage in the entire. Treks then we reach Bakhim the trail from Bakhim passes through magnolia and rhododendron trees. Tshoka is a small village. Overnight stay in a tent or lodge

 

 DAY 05

Trek Tshoka to Dzongri, Alt 4050 m/9 kms/5 hrs. O/N tents/huts
Trek from Tshoka to Dzongri is still a steep climb taking approx 5hrs. This leads us through dense forest of rhododendrons. There are over 400 flowering species in Sikkim. A place called Deorali Dara provides a magnificent view of the mountains. Once we reach Phidang we take a break. After further climbing we reach Dzongri, here the vegetation is thin and only small bushes and shrubs are found. A tourist hut is available for the night stay. 

 

 DAY 06

Acclimatization and excursion at Dzongri. O/N in tents/huts
It is usually overcrowded and noisy. A walk to Dabla Khang( DzongriTop) in the wee hours of the morning provides one of the most magnificent view of the mountains and the whole range of the peaks can be seen.

Acclimatization here is must for further ascending trekkers. Overnight stay in a tent

 

 DAY 07

Trek Dzongri to Thangsing, Alt 3930 m/8 kms/4 hrs, O/N
tents/huts.
Trek from Dzongri to Thangsing takes about approx 4hrs after walking through the bushes and hedges. At first its walking in the plain table land after few hours we rapidly descend down the river Prek on. The way one can view almost all the ranges above all Mt Pandim looks beautiful. In Thangsing  besides.  The Govt hut its all barren here is no civilization. Overnight stay in a tent

 

 DAY 08

Trek- Thangsing to Lamune (3 hrs) Camp at Lamune.
Trek from Thangsing to Samiti Lake takes about approx 3hrs its just a easy trek through thin vegetation. Overnight stay in a tent. Samiti is basically, in the base of mount Pandim because of its close attachment. With Mt Pandim here a small beautiful lake has emerged. When it gets snowed the lake with the mountain. Provides a spectacular unforgettable view. Over night in tent.

 

 DAY 09

Trek-Lamune to Samiti to Goechala (4940m)
and back to Lamune (7 hrs)
Trek from Lamune / Samiti to Goechala back to Samiti takes about approx 7 hrs, the trek starts with easy grading. We come across Zemathang which means ( sand- plain land) the trail goes through moraines before reaching Goechala one can view green lake formed right below the path deep down the hill, finally one reaches the second viewpoint  from here one can view southern phase of Kanchendzonga. Further trek takes you to yangitaar to spent one night in this place is worthwhile one can witness avalanche of Mt Kanchendzonga this place is recommendable because it is quite different than other entire trek, but during winter it is not possible due to thick snow which covers the path and makes it difficult to walk.

 

 DAY 10

Lamune  to Kokchurung.   (4 hrs) O/N at tents / huts.
Trek from Samiti to Kokchurung takes about 3hrs spent. Overnight stay in lodge.

 

 DAY 11

Kokchurung to Tshoka
Trek from Kokchurung to Tshoka takes about 5 hrs is gradual descend through thick forest it's a long and Tiring walk this route joins the route of Phidang to Dzongri trail. Overnight stay in a tent

 

 DAY 12

Tshoka to Yuksom (6hrs)
The trek from Tshoka to Yuksom takes about 6hrs. Overnight stay in a hotel. Trek Ends.

 

 DAY 13

Yuksom to Pemayangtse
Visit the Monastery, Lunch and drive to Gangtok via Rabongla, Halt.

 

 DAY 14

Gangtok Cherry City Tour
includes Rumtek Monastery, Afternoon Free. Halt.

 

 DAY 15

Return drive to IXB/Bhadrapur
for flight to onward journey. Trip ends

 

   
 

This is undoubtedly the most popular trek in Sikkim and framed for superb mountain views, a floral spectacle in summer, birds and views of pristine forests. The trek passes through the Kanchendzonga Bio-Sphere Reserve Forests and special trekking permits with fees are paid.
 

Meals on the trek:

Breakfast:
Bread/Butter/Jam/Eggs/Tibetan Bread/Honey/Tea Momo + Egg, Corn, Veg Soup/Baked Beans/Tea/Coffee/Fruits or Porridge with fruits. Drinking Chocolate at bedtime. Tea / Coffee at early morning.

Meals:
Soup/Rice/Dal/Vegetables/Salad/Non-Veg/Dessert (Indian Meals). Soup / Chowmein / Fried Rice / Tea Momo / Momos/Noodle Soup (Tibetan)

100%-Boiled water will be supplied before the trek every morning and refilled at lunch break-Pl. bring your own purifying agents for personal safety and satisfaction. No bottled waters pl.. same boiled waters used for cooking too.
                                   

Payment Mode:
Full and final payments to be made to Siniolchu Tours and Travels, GANGTOK, Sikkim-India in advance by Bank Transfer.  Money transfer Mode will be made available later. We also accept all International Master and Visa Cards.

NB: Pl. note and be well informed that there will be no refund of money after the trek commences and if one cannot complete the trek or gets sick enroute. However we will try to accommodate on the trail at lower altitude and help you with softer trek on the trail. If you intend to get down to base and stay in Yuksom, we will help you do that, however, the cost of hotel will not be borne by us and neither will be for meals. We can definitely help you trek to surrounding areas on the same cost.

Pemayangtse : Hotel Norbugang (Best view of Mountains)
Yuksom : Hotel Tashigang (Premium Property)
Gangtok : Hotel Mintokling (Great views, placid and close to the Palace of Sikkim)

Sikkim Visit Permits:
One needs to obtain Indian Visa at the country of origin or where available and the India embassy will endorse 15 days of Sikkim Inner Line permit on request if visiting Sikkim. Once this is obtained, you need to send me a fax of these details or as attachment via mail.
